Mars, 2203. In the company ice-quarry town of Lowmoor Station, a global dust storm has turned the sky the colour of a bruise. The Halloran Volatiles Company has declared greenhouse light non-essential, and the racks are dying one by one. So five children do what no adult will: they steal a retired ore crawler, recruit a drunk ex-surveyor who swears he knows where the lost lander Marguerite went down, and drive two hundred kilometres into the storm after the Company's legendary payroll gold. Now they are home, and a travelling magistrate has convened a salvage hearing in the school gymnasium to decide who owns what they brought back. The Company calls it theft. Each child must tell the story in their own words, but not one of them is telling everything.
