Interlock

About this book

Philadelphia, February 2025. While the city celebrates its Super Bowl win, a court interpreter steps through an elevator door in a converted Port Richmond mill and falls four floors into an empty shaft. The medical examiner calls it an accident: a worn lock on an old elevator, a dark hallway, a woman who didn't look. Lionel Pike knows better. He is the inspector who signed that elevator's certificate without testing it, and at dawn he pocketed the broken latch to save himself. Now he has seen what nobody else has: the steel was cut. To prove she was murdered, Lionel will have to read her Polish notebooks, face a detective who doesn't trust him, and explain the evidence in his coat. What did Marta Lisowska know, and what will the truth cost the man who stole it?
