The Last Laundry of the Lantern Gull

About this book

Wren Tallowby is twelve and not worried about anything. She lives aboard the Lantern Gull, a patched-up mending tender that darns hulls and sells hot soup to convoys crossing the empty Tithe Reach. Then a notice arrives: in nine days the Harrow Yard Authority will retire the ship and send every child aboard to school on a planet. Wren has nine days to finish the final rounds, return a drowned pilgrim's robes, mend a courier's suit, wash the captain's blanket and say goodbye to a moth she swears is not hers. She keeps a Log of True Things, and she corrects it often.
