The Seventh Hull

About this book

On Hesper's Ledge, a moon where the red sun never rises or sets, students of the Collegium rebuild the art humanity lost in the Quiet, and the best reconstructions are copied to a hundred worlds. Its most famous treasure is the Seventh Hull, a panel salvaged from the scrapyards of Tannery by a one-eyed ship-breaker's son who became the greatest restorer alive. Forty-one years later the Collegium is closing. Ivo Lind, now its Master, escorts the Seventh Hull on a seven-day voyage to the capital. With him travels Tamsin Achterberg-Oyelaran, an underpaid conservator who must certify the panel before it goes on show. She is very good at her job. And the panel has a history Ivo has spent his life not looking at: a dead friend, a storm on the dusk-wall, and a question no one has been allowed to ask.
