The Archipelago of Tithes

About this book

In an island society where citizens pay a yearly tax of their literal lifespans to keep their homes from sinking into the abyss, meticulous Year-Auditor Mara Venn discovers a terrifying discrepancy. Hundreds of distilled 'Years' are missing from the island's offering, embezzled to create illegal Longwake Licenses for the elite. As the island begins to physically destabilize from the deficit, Mara must navigate a treacherous web of corrupt Sea-Authority officials and desperate citizens. Stripped of her position and hunted by those protecting the system, she races to expose the conspiracy and restore balance before her home is swallowed by the ocean.
