The Weaver of Broken Songs

About this book

In the floating archipelago of Tuuletar, where music holds the power to mend physical objects and heal the soul, Kaarina Vainio, a gifted but disgraced Luthier, lives in self-imposed exile. Once the most promising artisan of the High Conservatory, she shattered her career—and her heart—when she failed to repair the Sovereign’s Harp, leading to a catastrophe that silenced the capital’s protective winds. Now, she spends her days fixing humble instruments for fishermen in the lower strata. Her quiet life is disrupted when Soran Rith, a stoic and scarred former captain of the Wind Guard who lost his rank in the same disaster, arrives at her door with a broken, enchanted violin of unknown origin. The instrument hums with a dangerous, forbidden melody that could restore the protective winds or tear the islands apart. Forced to work together to unlock the violin's secrets before the annual Silence Festival, Kaarina and Soran must navigate the treacherous politics of the Conservatory, confront the ghosts of their shared failure, and rediscover a love they thought they had forfeited forever. As the violin’s song grows stronger, they realize that mending the instrument requires them to first mend the rifts within themselves.
