Reflections of a Broken Tide

About this book

In the mist-shrouded valley of Mirrormarsh, destiny isn't written in the stars, but reflected in the water. For generations, families have relied on Viewing Rites performed in sacred hearth-basins to guide their children toward safe, predictable futures. Irie Sol, the daughter of a meticulous basin-keeper, has always lived under the weight of this certainty. But while others see hopeful possibilities in the water, Irie sees only fragmentation—visions of her loved ones becoming strangers, their bonds dissolving into silt. When the annual Convergence Rite goes disastrously wrong, shattering the valley's primary basin and plunging the community into chaos, Irie discovers her visions aren't errors, but warnings. As the marsh's magic begins to warp, reflecting twisted nightmares instead of guidance, Irie must unite a fractured group: her estranged, pragmatic sister Sable; her anxious foster brother Tomas; and Mica, a silent apprentice who hears the water's true voice. Together, they must journey upriver to the marsh's source to heal the waters before the valley's obsession with a perfect future destroys their only present.
