Nebula Knots

About this book

In the vibrant orbital bazaar of Harmony Drift, seventeen-year-old Mira Voss is the station’s unofficial ‘knot-unraveler,’ gifted at solving intricate alien string puzzles that predict trade fortunes. Orphaned and raised by her gruff, cybernetic Aunt Zauditu at a bustling noodle stall, Mira hides a secret lineage and finds comfort in braiding friendship cords with her best friends: Kai Lir, a scent-hacking Zorathian alien, and Tessa Quill, a boisterous baker’s apprentice. During the annual Harmony Festival, the station’s peace is shattered when the legendary Justice Orb—a crystal artifact essential for maintaining fair trade accords—is stolen from the central archive. Its disappearance threatens a devastating embargo that could starve the station’s residents. When Kai’s clan is falsely accused of the theft, Mira must use her puzzle-solving skills to clear their name. The thief leaves behind ‘echo-riddles’ and tampered knots that turn the station’s web of trust into a labyrinth of suspicion. Navigating through zero-g hydroponic gardens, aromatic spice vaults, and holographic mazes, the trio uncovers a plot that goes far deeper than simple theft. Mira must learn to trust her instincts and her friends to unravel the ultimate knot of betrayal before the station tears itself apart.
