Eternal Vows of the Lake Poets

About this book

In the mist-laden valleys of the 1817 Lake District, Elowen Trevelyan struggles to keep her family's crumbling estate, Willowmere Grange, afloat through her expertise in herbalism. Her father, a melancholic cartographer, and her two spirited brothers depend on her strength, but their legacy is threatened by debt and the scheming Lord Cranford. Enter Roderick Hale, a Peninsular War veteran carrying the unseen scars of survivor's guilt, who inherits the neighboring slate quarry. Their initial meeting is fraught with conflict as Roderick's industrial ambitions threaten the water source for Elowen's precious herbarium. However, a grudging alliance forms when Elowen treats Roderick's chronic pain, and he in turn assists her brothers with land surveying. As they uncover a forgery plot by Cranford designed to steal their lands by exploiting a secret regarding Elowen's grandmother, their bond deepens from wary respect to profound love. Amidst the threat of ruin and a dangerous quarry collapse, Elowen and Roderick must learn that true devotion requires vulnerability, merging their strengths to save their heritage and forge a future where duty and desire are one.
