Novelist Writer License

This license is an agreement between Novelist, the service at ainovelist.app, and you, the author who accepted it when creating a novel in writer mode. It covers that novel only: the book you created and every edition of it you finalize in the Writer Studio.

Draft: the files Novelist delivers when it finishes writing the novel. Their title page says they are not for publication.

Edition: a version of the book you finalize in the Writer Studio. Each edition has a number and a verification code, and is listed in Novelist's public registry.

Co-creation credits: the co-creation credit on the title page, the edition notice, the colophon and, in print, the line on the back cover, as Novelist adds them to every edition.

Store: any shop, platform, library or distributor through which a book is sold, lent or shared.

Novelist grants you an exclusive, worldwide license, with no time limit, to reproduce, publish, distribute, sell, lend and translate the finalized editions of the book, in any format, under your name or a pen name, and to authorize stores to do so. To the extent the law allows, Novelist also assigns to you any rights it may hold in the text of the book.

You keep all the income from your editions: Novelist takes no share of it. Novelist will not sell, publish or license the book to anyone else, and will not show it in its bookstore.

The license is granted on these conditions, which apply to every edition, format and translation of the book.

Keep the co-creation credits exactly as Novelist added them. Do not remove, hide, shrink or alter them, or move them where readers will not see them.

Do not present the book as written only by you, in the book, in its description or anywhere else.

Declare AI-generated content wherever a store asks, as truthfully as its questions allow.

Publish and sell only finalized editions: drafts are not for publication.

Follow the rules of each store you publish with.

The text you write or rewrite yourself in the Writer Studio is yours, and so are the pages you add, such as your acknowledgments or your biography. Novelist claims no rights in them.

In some countries, text generated by artificial intelligence may not be protected by copyright. Novelist makes no promise that the book, or any part of it, is protected, and registering any rights in it is up to you.

Novelist keeps a copy of the book and of each edition, with the record of your acceptance of this license and of each edition's acknowledgment, only to provide the service, to keep the public registry of editions, to recognize the book's text and to enforce this license. Novelist does not show or quote your book to promote its service unless you agree to it.

Anyone can check an edition with its verification code at ainovelist.app/verify. The registry shows the title, the author name you chose, the edition number and date, and whether the license is in force. It never shows the text of the book.

If the co-creation credits are removed, hidden or altered, or the book is presented as written only by you, the license ends automatically for every edition of the book. You must then withdraw every edition from sale within 14 days, and Novelist may mark the editions as revoked in the public registry.

Novelist may also take legal action, including claiming compensation for the damage caused, such as the income obtained from editions sold in breach of these conditions.

Writer mode novels and AI packs are paid for as set out in the Terms of Service. Novelist starts writing your novel as soon as you pay, and the refund rules of the Terms of Service apply.

Novelist may publish new versions of this license. Each book keeps the version its author accepted, unless the author accepts a new one. The Writer Studio shows which version applies to each book.

This license is governed by the same law as Novelist's Terms of Service, and disputes about it go to the same courts. If you are a consumer, nothing in this license limits the rights the law of your country gives you.
